According to the website, www.asafeworldforwoman.org, more woman aged 18-45 die or are disabled by gender violence than cancer, malaria, traffic accidents and war. Now just take a moment to really let that statistic stick in your head… now let it come to reality, and you may be saying “oh my”. This is a sickening thought that I had no idea about. This is why we need to start empowering woman and put a end to this violence. Woman everyday succumb to violence because they feel that this is what is the norm, and that there is no one out there that is willing to hear them out and help them. We need to address this issue as a nation, and also address why there are millions of men with the mindset that hitting a woman is okay. Where did this concept come from and why are there so many men thinking this is okay? We need to address the main stream media to stop producing and performing acts that promote male violence. Our children and adolescents look up to these figures and if they are promoting hitting woman then what do you think they are going to follow?
Something to think about…..
December 8, 2009Monogamous men: Fact or Fiction
December 8, 2009Why is that when a man sleep with a lot of woman he’s the man or has great game? But woman who sleep around with men are whores, easy or defined as sluts. I think that these definitions are what fuels men to chalk up to their cheating on their spouses as a simple, I can’t control my urges. It’s the generic thinking that men just go around sleeping with lots of woman and its okay, whether in a relationship or not. Men are not destined to cheat, any person can be monogamous or not, there’s no wiring that doesn’t allow men to be monogamous. I know plenty of men who choose to be monogamous, it just get boiled down to whether they choose to or not. I think that the mainstream way of thinking that men sleep around helps men think that these behaviors are alright. So where do we start? I think hitting the media up and the entertainment world would be a great start because they portray a great amount of what is believed to be acceptable.
Drafting a new woman
December 8, 2009The title may not make you think exactly what I’m talking about, but rather improving woman’s rights. Men are required to be registered for the draft on their 18th birthday in the case of a war, but the question I have is, if woman can join the military and go overseas to war, then why can’t they register to be drafted? The selective service guidelines, which are geared toward the draft, are also geared only towards men. I think that woman fear being drafted because of the fact that it would make America face societal norms that for to long have been ignored. These norms include that woman’s primary place is in the kitchen, at home to be protected by their male counterparts. I think it’s time to change these outlooks on the woman role.
Cleaning products equals sexism
December 8, 2009Have you ever noticed that when you watch a commercial 95% of the time the person doing the cleaning is a woman? How come you never see a man pushing a broom or vacuuming the dining room? Why is it that America continues to push the fact that woman’s roles a exclusively at the home only? I mean it makes plenty of sense that men do the cleaning too so why not have them step up and have a role in these commercials. I’m going to use the swifter mop for example, they have the woman using the swifter and what’s even disturbing is that that have a male mop stalking the woman using the swifter. Why does it have to be a male mop and a woman cleaner, why cant they use a male with a woman stalker? And what bothers me the most is that with all the violence that is associated with woman and males, that they would allow a commercial portraying male stalking. I think this is rather disturbing, do you agree?
Mancott Equals Boycott
November 16, 2009Who is with me when we say we are angry that men are overtaking the woman. The woman are under represented in the important areas of life! Well when do we get to step up and take a shot at the world. Men have been running this world for how long? And look at where we are now. The world is slowly withering away, people are going hungry because the unemployment rate is soaring, people are murdering other people. What has this world turned to? I think its time woman push the men to the side and take a stand in what we believe in, what we want, what we deserve. So who’s with me in this Boycott on man… our new version known as Mancott.
A Prime Example
October 14, 2009Does this make anyone else angry?
There’s a new application for the iPhone called “Before You Score” by Amp energy drink (owned by Pepsi). It gives guys and instant guide on how to manipulate a girl and get into her pants, narrowed down to any stereotypical label that the targeted girl seems to fit.
AMP has actually built features into its application that make it seem one can systematically “score” by exploiting women’s naivety. Beyond that, they actively encourage users to promote such conquests through social media.
This is a program sponsored by a major corporation that encourages men to look at women as objects to be won, used, and tossed away after a “victory” is obtained, and the more normalized things like this becomes, the worse off we’re all going to be. It would be nice to turn on the television one day and not see some dude completely dehumanizing women as a part of some asinine “game” in order to promote deodorant or soda pop or body wash, but I guess there isn’t an app for that yet.
Daily Expariences
October 14, 2009We all encounter sexism in our daily lives, and its not always possible to find a outlet for out anger. The lack of a emotional outlet can lead to doubt and loneliness. It makes me wonder how many woman have lost their way because they were so alone in their beliefs that they didn’t have anyone to share their experiences with. The importance of this blog is so that we can see how other women live, we can learn form each others expariences. We can understand that we are not alone, that other women are facing the same issues we are facing, or even learn issues that some women are facing that we aren’t. We can offer insight, advice, or what may of helped us through the difficult times.
The beginning of a controversity
October 14, 2009Why is it that when the world needs something to evolve it happens overnight? But women have been fighting for change since the turn of the century. I don’t understand why woman are lagging so behind in the 20th century. Why must we always go the extra mile to show our knowledge. Why do men have more opportunities then woman? I am no way a male basher but I am a strong advocate of females and equal rights. I encourage men and woman to voice their opinions. This blog is meant to be a outlet for woman and men to show the power struggles shown throughout the years.
